Project Overview

Designing a careers page aims to provide aspiring applicants with seamless navigation and facilitate job applications for their convenience.

The problem statement

When attempting to apply for a job via the website, an applicant encounters difficulty in locating relevant information regarding the company’s culture, current openings or the application process, leading them to abandon the site and seek opportunities elsewhere.

Project Goals

Crafting a landing page for easy access to information and applications.

Encourage / motivate applicants to take action

Make the application process accessible on multiple devices

User problems

  1. Did not know where to look for jobs

  2. Difficulty in finding opportunities once on the career page.

  3. Overwhelmed with the amount of data and advertisements present on the page and drops off

  4. No correct CTA to apply for the jobs

  5. They don’t get to know about the company’s principles, culture & Incentives

Possible Solutions

Based on the all the information collected through research and findings, I figured that an application will require following functionality to promote a healthy lifestyle

Based on insights, give the users flexibility to find the “Apply Now’ CTA easily

Provide the users with enough data about a job requirement for them to make a sound decision.

Simplifying the application process to the core so as to ensure the user does not drop off overwhelmed.

Reducing the highly contracting colors and banners to dedicate the page just for career insights.

Introduce employee testimonials and the incentives the company offers to feed the curiosity of the applicant.

Filter out job opportunities based on locations and designations, job type (remote, offline, hybrid etc)

Primary Research

During the research phase, I also tried to understand;

  • The Audience: Talking to people who might visit the career page to learn what they want and need.

  • Checking How People Use the Page: Watching what people do when they visit the former career page to find out what's easy and what's hard for them.

  • Asking for Feedback: Regularly ask people who use the page what they think about it, so you can make it better based on their ideas.

Secondary Research

  • I gathered information from existing sources such as articles, industry reports, and competitor analyses to understand trends and best practices in career page design.

  • Reviewed User Data: I analyzed data from website analytics and user surveys to gain insights into user preferences, behaviors, and expectations regarding career pages.

  • Examined Case Studies: I studied examples of successful career pages from other companies to identify strategies and features that could be adapted to improve our own.

Understanding the Problem

  • Applicants primarily apply through a company's website to avoid delays caused by third-party platforms.

  • Difficulty applying directly through a company's website diminishes trust in the company.

  • Consequently, there's increased engagement of applicants on job portals like LinkedIn, Naukri.com, etc.
